Although I am a big fan of the new ceramic bezels Rolex and other brands came out with a recently, the era of faded and discolored bezels is officially dead. Older bezels from various models have added so much character to vintage watches: blacks changing to blues, reds to pinks, blues to purples, grey 'ghost' bezels and all the variations in between.
The two main bezels Rolex made are the GMT 24 hour bezel, and the submariner bezel. The GMT bezel was used to show another timezone, developed in conjunction with PanAm to allow pilots to quickly tell if it was night or day in their home timezone. The submariner bezel counts down sixty minutes, in order to help scuba divers time their dives.
So in honor of these increasingly faded heros, I've collected a bunch of beautiful old bezels for you to enjoy.
